“Bodies on the Line” is a project by Perth based artist David Grant and a group of models and artists who put their bodies on the line to have their say, about the environment, sustainability, relationships, work, study, religion, politics - in fact any topic they feel strongly about. In practice it means on-going serious discussion between the model and artist during all stages of the work. The end result is a collaboration between artist and model. The poses and the often abstract art work in the background are inspired by the mood and conversation of the model. The hand written words on the art work are comments written by the models. All comments accompanying the pictures in the books are those of the model depicted.
All of the models in this project are people from everyday life, none of them are professional models. They range in age from 24 years to 71 years. They are from many different professions and backgrounds but, all share a strong belief that if they can get their message across they can make a difference. *Update - since 2011 the project has included models who have pages on the the Model Mayhem website.
